I'm going to Hawaii!! Help me create a Sephora shopping list.

I have a confession. Until a couple of weeks ago I didn't really know what Sephora was. Yeah, I'd heard of it, but I guess I just thought that it was the US's version of Priceline. Then I read Kimmi's post about her Sephora haul on The Plastic Diaries and I realised that Sephora was so much more than I had ever imagined.

I am attending a dear friend's a wedding in Hawaii early next year. In fact, I should have been Best Man at the wedding but my husband pipped me at the post - apparently the groom was scared that I would have ordered male Hawaiian strippers for the bucks night (which I would have - female strippers don't do it for me!). So, we have decided to make a bit of a family holiday of it, and hopefully I can sneak a little bit of shopping in as well!

For today's post I thought that I'd make it interactive. I was wondering if you could help me devise a Sephora shopping list. I have had a quick look on their website but got totally overwhelmed. Where do I start? Well, the most obvious place is with you guys! Do you have a Sephora wish list? Or have you hauled from Sephora yourself? The boys will be having a golf day whilst we are over there which means that us girls get a shopping day. However, my friends are not nearly as beauty obsessed as I am so there is no way that they will tolerate (or even stick around for!!) me spending 3 hours in Sephora. That means that I need to have a really concise list before I go so that I can rush in there, grab want I want and go before they all abandon me! We are flying with Hawaii Airlines which means that between me, my husband and our toddler we have a 160kg luggage limit (how crazy is that!! Us adults get 64kgs and our bub gets 32kgs!!) so weight is not going to be an issue.

So what am I after? Mostly skincare and bath & body products though if there are makeup products that are an absolute steal or are totally different to what we get here then I am interested. I love the idea of getting products that aren't available in Australia (even though that is then a tease when they run out). I am thinking of getting some Philosophy shower gels though not sure whether Sephora is cheaper than skinstore.com. I am also a huge perfume addict so love ideas of unique perfumes as well. How can you help me? If you have your own Sephora wish list then post it in the comments below. Or, have you done a post, or read a post of a drool worth Sephora haul then please post the link. I'd love suggestions of things to look out for but also things to avoid - ie any product that you bought from Sephora that didn't live up to your expectations. I have 6 months to compile this list, so as you can see I am already fast running out of time!

How exciting! If I were going to US, (I wish!!!) I'd stock up on MAC, NARS, Benefit and MUFE, very cheap compared to Aussie prices. I think Sephora has 'Best of' miniature gift sets, both makeup and perfumes!
Is it just to Sephora you are going? Nordstorm, Macy's would also be cool places to shop, don't know if they are in Hawaii though. There is always duty free shopping at airport! Have fun :)

Oooh...minatures are a great idea - i already have way too much makeupand perfume yet still want more so that couldbe a good compromise.I have to confess that I also know nothing about Bordstorm or Macy's...this could get really dangerous. Though my spending money and my time to spend money will be quite limited because we are bringthe Crazy Kid along. We originally were going to leave himbehind with his grandparents and so only booked two plane tickets...but then we realised we couldn't be apart from him for that long so the next day booked a ticket for him as well. He is a total water babe so will absolutely love it over there.

How exciting!! Hope you have an amazing holiday!

I would definitely suggest that you check out MAC (expecially their limited edition collection), Estee Lauder and Bobbi Brown.

Oh, and don't forget to try some Hershey's Chocolate =D

Ooh...I've gotten a couple of MAC recommendations. I don't have an of their lip sticks so that might be a good place to start.

I have actually tried Hershey's chocolate before and didn't overly like it - to me it tasted a bit like it had gone off. Though I had forgotten about my peanut butter cup and peanut butter m&m obsession so your hershey's suggestions has helped!! I mightset aside 30kg of our 160kg luggage limit to bring back peanut butter treats!!

Buy some Sephora nail stickers! http://beautybargainqueen.blogspot.com/2011/07/sp...

I'd buy the latest make up products, the limited edition products and anything else that you can't get here in Australia!

Lucky you!

Oh my goodness.. I'm so jealous! If I were going I would be stocking up on the things I already know I love (I hate the lack of availability of these products in Aus or... availability via extortion :( ).

I adore the Nars Laguna bronzer and the Urban Decay Primer Potion. I really want to try the laura mercier silk creme foundation everyones raving about. If you're wanting to try Bare Escentuals which is just wonderfully priced in starter and value kits this would be a great time. But yeah, I would say stock up on Nars, MUFE and Mac (I've heard there's a couple of stores in Hawaii).

...this post was dangerous ;)

Thanks for your input! MAC definitely seems to be a popular choice! Its going to be difficult for me to go to crazy whilst i am over there as my son won't last long in a shop at all (and neither will his father!!) but hopefully I can get adecent haul. I think for Xmas I will just ask for US dollars to go towards haulage!!

Hey Sarah, I would strongly recommend buying just an ordinary black eyeliner pencil. It's my favourite eyeliner and I use it everyday, mine has nearly all gone so it's lucky my brother is going to the US in September. I would be so lost without it. Also I really like their lip plumper and their lip glosses. I am so jealous of you!! Oh by the way you have to go to Ala Moana, best shopping centre on the planet.

It's the Sephora collection waterproof kohl eyeliner pencil. Not the nano eyeliner, it's really bad in comparison.
thanks for that...I'll keep my eyes out!

No because Im too jealous.......Ok then the Sephora nail polish strips are great I got them in Paris and they really last & wear well. May I also suggest a snatch and grab method - just what ever is near- whatever you can touch, throw it in your shopping basket (best get a trolley actually) I'm sure it will all be well priced treasure

Haha. That us the most brilliant suggestion! There used to be thus game show in Australia, can't remember what it was called - I don't think it was the price is right but maybe it was, and there was a segment where the contestants had 1 minute to race around a grocery store and grab as many products as possible (but you could only get a max of 2 if each type) and the person who had the trolley with the greatest value if products won. As a kid it looked so much fun - I used to day dream about doing that one day. You have just made this daydream so so so much better! Can you imagine having 1 minute to grab as many beauty products as possible is Sephora. Whoa...I'm feeling a bit giddy!!

OMG, I love shopping in Hawaii. My last trip was to Hawaii with the boyfriend, who patiently waited almost an hour for me outside Sephora!
I'm sure plenty of people will suggest things from Sephora itself, so I'm going to recommend that you visit the beauty counters at Macy's, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. I bought some Kiehl's stuff from Nordstrom and the woman went crazy with the samples. They're not completely stingy with the samples like they are here (ie. they'll give you a sample even without buying anything).
The other place to go nuts is Bath & Body Works. The shop literally opened two weeks after I left so I never got to stock up on their awesomeness. I almost cried! They usually have 3 for $10 on their mini body lotions and shower gels. You'll spend an hour in there sniffing everything. So jealous!
